Queen Lili‘uokalani was born on September 2, 1838, in Honolulu. She died at Washington Place on November 11, 1917, at the age of 79. Monarch of the Hawaiian Islands, she became Queen of Hawai'i upon the death of her brother, King KalÄkaua I, in 1891. She reigned for just under two years and was then overthrown in January 17, 1893 by the America business, political, and also military interests. On September 16, 1862, Liliʻuokalani married John Owen Dominis who became Governor of O'ahu and Maui.On September 16, 1862, at the age of twenty-four, Liliuokalani married John Owen Dominis. Liliuokalani did not have children, and some sources suggest that she was unhappy with the marriage.7 years after his death, a short time after her ascension to throne, she remained unmarried. In 1895, Liliuokalani was arrested on charges of hiding a "cache of weapons" in the "gardens of her home in Washington Palace."12 years after her denial of the aforementioned charges she eventually was allowed to return to her home. 
             At an early age, Queen Lili'uokalani began to study music started to go on and write over 160 songs and chants. Also including on of the four Hawaiian National Anthems too. Queen Lili'uokani express her feelings through her lyrics and music about Hawaii and it's people.
